  • Cleaner Car Contracts signs up 65.000+ cars in first weeks

Green leasing is hot and happening. Cleaner Car Contracts, launched early April*, has gone off to a flying start. In five participating countries, lease corporations, their clients and other fleet owners signed up more than 65,000 cars in less than two months. The fleets signed up will outpace EU requirements for fuel-efficiency of passenger cars. First-hour signee Athlon Car Lease expects many more lease companies will join.

In an online interview (www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvJBffOwOTE), Hans Blink, CEO of Athlon Car Lease, explains why he joined Cleaner Car Contracts: “Signing the Cleaner Car Contract shows our commitment to our mission to provide sustainable mobility solutions to our customers.” Athlon Car Lease signed up for a Gold Fleet Cleaner Car Contract, containing an ambitious 120 gr CO2/km fuel-efficiency target for newly acquired fleets in 2012**.

Lead NGO Stichting Natuur en Milieu (the Netherlands) is proud of all companies joining the effort to outpace EU requirements for fuel-efficient cars: “The lease sector is genuinely willing to step up to the challenge of reducing CO2 emissions from cars. So it’s clear that it’s not just a couple of NGOs saying cars should be more fuel-efficient. There is a real business-case for low carbon cars and Cleaner Car Contracts is showing it,” says Maarten van Biezen, teammanager mobility and spatial planning.

Lease companies interested to join can contact the project team through http://www.cleanercarcontracts.eu/contact.
