Germany: VCD signs with Athlon Germany

  • Germany: VCD signs with Athlon Germany

On april 8th 2010, Athlon Car Lease Germany has signed a Cleaner Car Contract with the German Traffic Club (VCD -Verkehrs Club Deutschland).
Athlon Car Lease Germany expresses in this contract its ambition to limit the average emissions of their new fleet to 120 grams CO2/km by 2012. “We don’t want to wait any longer for climate protection, but we start now!” said CEO Ryjan Rutgers, while signing the contract with the head of the VCD, Kerstin Haarmann.

With this ambition, Athlon Car Lease Germany has earned the right to use the Gold standard emblem of the Cleaner Car Contracts initiative. As lease companies buy up to 30% of the new cars, the move of Athlon will certainly stimulate the penetration of modern, lean cars in the whole market. The signing partners point out that –next to lean cars – also the driving behaviour of the customers give generous opportunities to save fuel, money and the climate.
