Cleaner Car Contracts is an initiative of the Dutch environmental NGO Natuur en Milieu (The Netherlands Society for Nature and Environment), who joined forces with sister organisations in several European Countries:
1. Verkehrsclub Deutschland (Germany)
2. Bond Beter Leefmilieu Vlaanderen (Belgium)
3. Terra! Onlus (Italy)
4. The Ecological Council (Denmark)
Similar to Natuur & Milieu, these environmental NGOs prefer a model of constructive dialogue and positive criticism to mobilize businesses to contribute to a sustainable transport system.

About Natuur & Milieu
Natuur & Milieu is an inpedendent environmental organization committed to securing a healthy natural environment. We operate primarily in the Netherlands, but when relevant we operate in Europe as well. In Europe we work together with the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) and Transport and Environment (T&E).
Our approach is solution-oriented and innovative. We bring together people, knowledge and ideas and we are partners with green business. By working together with these businesses and other organisations we are able to accomplish more and reach even more people.

Verkehrsclub Deutschland
The Verkehrsclub Deutschland (VCD) is an association for sustainable mobility and a major German transport and environmental organization. The VCD offers information to the public on sustainable means of transportation. We lobby for better jurisdiction on sustainable mobility. The VCD advocates environmentally friendly mobility by means of: more public transport, cycling, and walking to include better traffic safety. The VCD releases »Fairkehr«, a bimonthly magazine on new developments in sustainable transport. The VCD offers the ecological automobile insurances, the only one in Germany where the fee is directly related to CO2-emission of you car.
Bond Beter Leefmilieu
Bond Beter Leefmilieu (Federation for a Better Environment) is the pluralistic and independent federation of more than 140 national and local associations involved in nature and the environment in Flanders, Belgium. BBL works from the following vision to sustainable development: fair distribution of prosperity and environmental usage space, in Flanders and elsewhere, now and in the future.
Terra! Onlus
Terra! Onlus is an Italian environmental NGO that focuses on campaigning for cars, transport and reduction of CO2 emissions. They are good at creative public media-actions, and networking with people, groups and organizations with the same purposes. Terra!’s main target of creating a new environmental activism, with open participation, that can continue to grow thanks to the creativity and expertise of all people who want to act for a sustainable mobility and save the planet.
Danish Ecological Council (Formand for Det Økologiske Råd)
The Danish Ecological Council (DEC) is an NGO with a staff of nine, who together with a network of volunteers work on projects funded by external donors. DEC focuses on the necessary tasks to reach the environmental goals, among these are economic instruments like green taxes and green public procurement policies. The central issues are energy conservation and climate, traffic and environment (green house gasses and air pollution), agriculture and environment (pesticides, nutrients, biodiversity and climate) and chemicals. DEC has been active at the European level for many years, through the EEB and through T&E.
